Yohana C. Toner graduated in Biomedicine from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) in 2016. During her time at UFPR, she served as Vice President of the Biomedicine Academic
Center, President of the Biomedicine Collegiate Body, and Counselor in the Department of Biological Sciences. As a student, she organized academic events such as the Academic Week of Biomedical Sciences at UFPR. In 2012, she began an internship at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ). In 2013, she received a one-year scholarship to enroll in the Master’s program at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven). In Belgium, she also worked as a trainee at Gasthuisberg Hospital, where she performed imaging experiments for Johnson & Johnson. Upon returning to Brazil, she worked as a certified Microscopy Technician at FIOCRUZ. In 2016, Yohana started her career in nanomedicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. At Mount Sinai, she worked as a prolific preclinical microsurgeon and animal experimentation specialist. She holds over 10 years of experience in translational
research and molecular imaging, with emphasis in nanomedicine.
