Movement when endurance is limited: Finding confidence through everyday activity
Geoff Jessup (AU)
Transplant Australia · Salamander Bay
Geoff received the Gift of Life in the form of a liver transplant in 2016. For three and half years leading up to his transplant he suffered debilitating sclerosing cholangitis resulting in repeated episodes of septicaemia and sepsis, extensive hospitalisation and administration of antibiotics, a Roux En Y hepaticojejunostomy and ultimately cirrhosis and severe limitation of liver function. Following recovery from his transplant Geoff has endeavoured to make every day of his second chance at life count. He returned to his profession of project management, found the love of his life, and resumed his exercise and training program. Inspired by the objectives and challenge of post-transplant sport, Geoff significantly advanced his training program and has competed in three World and Australian Transplant Games. Recently retired, Geoff and his wife Susan live on the NSW coast north of Sydney and both volunteer with Transplant Australia.
