About
Dr Shyam B Bansal is the Director and Head of Nephrology at Medanta Institute of Nephrology and Kidney Transplant. Dr Bansal has been involved in the care of more than 3,000 kidney transplant recipients to date. He is also the Honorary Secretary of the Indian Society of Nephrology. He has received fellowships of the Indian Society of Nephrology, the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation, the American Society of Nephrology and the Royal College of Physicians (London). He is currently a member of the South Asian Regional Board of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN)and a member of the education committee of the International Transplantation Society (TTS). Dr Bansal is has published more than 100 original articles and many book chapters in the field of Nephrology and kidney transplantation. He has extensively published on post-transplant infections, including Mucormycosis, histoplasmosis, leishmaniasis, Dengue, etc. Recently, he published a supplement on Transplant Infectious disease guidelines for South Asia in the Indian Journal of Transplantation as a guest editor, and a summary of these guidelines was published in Transplantation. He is also the lead author of the Indian guidelines for anemia in CKD, published in the Indian Journal of Nephrology
