Associate Professor Rebecca Deans is an internationally recognised researcher and clinician in benign gynaecology, infertility and has a special interest in paediatric and adolescent gynaecology. She works at the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney Children’s Hospital, and UNSW. She has over 60 peer reviewed publications and, 5 book chapters. She is the lead researcher in a collaborative uterus transplant research project. In January 2023 Dr Deans and her team performed Australia’s first Australian uterus transplant surgery at the Royal Hospital for Women, with a live birth in December of that year. Two further transplants have been performed resulting in a second live birth. For her work in women’s health, she was awarded NSW Woman of Excellence in 2023.
