Professor Paul Kiarash Khosrotehrani, MD PhD FACD MAICD, is an internationally recognised clinician‑scientist and Director of the Frazer Institute at The University of Queensland, where he also holds the St Baker–Soyer Chair of Dermatology. His work bridges regenerative medicine, skin cancer biology, and translational dermatology, with a long‑standing focus on melanoma, keratinocyte cancers and wound healing.
A Fellow and President‑Elect of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, he has shaped academic dermatology in Australia through leadership roles across national and international societies, including the Australasian Society for Dermatology Research and the International Society for Investigative Dermatology.
Professor Khosrotehrani’s research has produced landmark insights into stem cell biology, progenitor cell function, carcinogenesis, and skin regeneration. His outputs include more than 430 publications, over 7,000 citations and multiple highly cited papers across top‑tier journals. His work has attracted more than $28 million in competitive research funding and has led to clinical trials, patents, and industry partnerships translating discovery into improved patient care.
Clinically, he directs Dermatology at Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he leads services in general dermatology, transplant skin cancer management, and research‑integrated patient care. A dedicated mentor, he has supervised numerous higher‑degree researchers who now contribute to dermatology globally
