I am a Research Fellow in the Applied Surgery and Metabolism Lab (ASML), School of Biological Sciences, University of Auckland, and with the University of Queensland and the Critical Care Research Group (Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane). My research centers on mitochondrial function and dysfunction across diverse animal models, with a particular focus on species that display extreme physiological adaptations. By exploring how mitochondria operate under stress and resilience, I aim to uncover mechanisms that can inform translational biomedical research and inspire biomimicry in clinical applications. I co-organise the EcoMito research Network, an international research community dedicated to understanding mitochondrial function in ecological, evolutionary, and environmental contexts.
