Dr Smibert is the lead for transplant infectious diseases at Austin Health and PhD student at the Peter Mac Callum Cancer Center and University of Melbourne. In 2019 she completed a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, in transplant infectious diseases. She has earned a number of awards including the 2019 Australian National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia Gustav Nossal Postgraduate Scholarship Award. Her work aims to inform precision antimicrobial strategies and advance the development of microbiome-informed diagnostics and therapeutics to improve outcomes in vulnerable patient groups.
